Putty Hall Centenary Celebrations

The Putty Hall was officially opened on 17 October 1918. Centenary Celebrations organised for 2018 include this special lunch in June for residents and landholders, old and new. Another Centenary Celebration will be at the Putty Fair on Sunday, September 30.

Opening of Putty Hall - Singleton Argus 24 October 1918

The movement to provide such an institution was started by the Rev. Mr Herford some 18 months ago, when the project was cordially taken up and £100 collected. This was increased by a sports meeting, and building

was begun with a deficit of £60, which it is believed will be easily  cleared by  the  proceeds on the opening day. The land for the hall was donated by Mr S. Ellis, having been allotted by ballot

from land offered by Mr A. E. Merrick. The principal movers in securing the land were Messrs S. Ellis, W. Cobcroft, and G. Gibbs, and they were well supported by residents.
